Cursive fonts can look like upright classroom writing, a connected looped hand or a bold rounded script. Preview the name or phrase you plan to use; repeated letters and spaces can change its flow.
A connected hand and a more upright printed approach create different pacing. Check complete words, including tall and descending letters, rather than judging one initial.
Loops, joins and slanted strokes take horizontal room. Keep the sample and size constant as you compare, so each line length tells you something useful.
Connected writing may suit a name, heading or brief note. For instructions or dense copy, test a simpler companion and make the hierarchy easy to follow.
This cursive fonts group follows the script structure throughout, placing all 12 under Script Fonts as well. 3 of the 12 are in the free collection (Amour Shadow, Cursive Ribbon Flow and Needle Formal); a free account can download them as TTF, while Pro, Studio, or Font Pass unlocks the other 9. All fonts here offer a single Regular style; there are no additional bold or light weights. Beyond cursive, common additional tags are tattoo (7), fancy (4), poster (4) and bold (3). Some fonts share a base design: Amore Nib, Bouquet Script and Executive Sign vary by effect, slant, or width; altogether 6 fonts here belong to such groups.
All 4 fonts with measurable angles slope to the right, by a median of about 20°. The steepest is Cursive Letterpress Slant at about 22°; the other 8 have strokes without a consistent angle. Widths vary a lot: the typical lowercase letter spans from 57.5% of the cap height in Dugout Script to 138.8% in Dovetail Quill. The page median is 68.8%, 10% narrower than the 76.1% library-wide midpoint, which means a line holds more words than in a typical library font. For these cursive fonts, lowercase x-height spans 45% to 73.9% of cap height (median 53.7%); across the full library, the median is 72.6%. At the lighter end, Executive Sign is the lightest of these cursive fonts at 17.9% of the letter area and Dugout Script the darkest at 55.3%; the median here, 29.7%, is 26% lighter than the library's 40%. 2 of the 12 carry a treatment built into each letter: drop shadow on 1 and varsity outline on 1.
This cursive fonts set covers Latin alone, with 148 to 351 characters. Each font includes accented and special Latin letters (median 53), allowing names such as Zoë and Björn to use those characters. 8 of the 12 adjust spacing with kerning pairs; median count: 45. Dovetail Quill has the most, with 1,478 recorded. OpenType data records no OpenType ligatures or alternates are recorded; number columns work as follows: tabular figures are absent, so number columns may not align exactly.
Measurements cover 12 of the 12 fonts listed here. Width, x-height, ink, and slant refer to Latin samples and may not apply to other writing systems. Width and height use Latin cap height as their reference. Library comparisons use 61 fonts measured on November 4, 2026.
Needle Formal offers the broadest measured character set here, 351, including 256 accented and special Latin letters.
Dovetail Quill is tuned with 1,478 kerning pairs, closing ZZ up by 22.9% of the cap height, though pair count alone cannot confirm spacing for your text.
Amour Shadow is available as a free TTF download for personal projects (up to 3 different free fonts a month).
Dugout Script has a varsity outline effect built into each letter, so no additional styling is needed in your design app.
Cursive Soft Bounce runs 32% wider than the page median (90.5% of cap height for each lowercase letter); preview the complete word before deciding where to break the line.
Cursive Ribbon Flow has an x-height of 67.7% of cap height, placing it among the tallest on this page. Inspect its counters and spacing at your planned size; this measurement alone cannot establish readability.
Tell the generator how you want the letters to look. It creates an installable font that you can refine one character at a time in Studio.
