Upside down text: compare rotated, flipped and mirrored results

The four choices change a phrase in different ways. Upside Down swaps supported letters for rotated lookalikes, then reverses their order so the line can read when you turn the phone over. Flipped changes the character shapes but keeps the original sequence, so the result may look inverted without reading as a normal upside-down sentence. Paste the same short phrase in both to see which effect you want. A phrase with mixed capitals, lowercase letters and numbers is a better comparison sample than a row of repeated letters. Look at both the individual shapes and the order of the whole word. A result can contain rotated letters yet still run in the original direction. For a puzzle heading or a playful reply, choose the version a reader can decode from context. Keep the ordinary phrase available if you need to edit a name or spelling later; visual similarity between two symbols does not make the transformation reversible.

Mirror mode uses reversed-looking forms, such as b for d or ƨ for s, and reverses the sequence to imitate a reflection. Backwards changes only character order; each letter keeps its normal shape. There is no exact rotated or mirrored counterpart for every letter, digit or punctuation mark, so some characters stay as entered or use an approximate match. This is a visual transformation, not a cipher or a way to preserve a sentence’s exact typography.

The original remains in the input while you compare outputs. Copy the version you want and paste it into a bio, message or caption to check line direction and support. Some apps may render the symbols with different shapes, and styled text can be harder to search. Keep links, names and instructions in standard order. For rotated artwork that needs precise control, rotate a regular text layer in a design app instead.

FAQ

Common questions

Which digits and punctuation marks can be rotated?
Digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 have rotated forms: Ɩ ᄅ Ɛ ㄣ ϛ ㄥ; 6 and 9 swap, while 0 and 8 stay the same. Common marks such as ?, ! and . also flip.
Why are some upside-down letter shapes only approximate?
Substitutes come from different Unicode writing blocks and may have different designs. Q has no exact rotated form, for example, so the tool uses the closest visual match.
Can I restore the original after copying inverted text?
Copy the original from the input field, which stays unchanged while you preview. Running the transformed result through the tool again will not restore it because symbols such as ɐ and ǝ do not map back to a and e.
