Direction
Use the paired glyph rows to inspect the actual distinctions in this file; the preview sizes are samples, not pass/fail thresholds.
The first row places capital I, lowercase l and numeral 1 together; the second compares capital O with zero.
In this file, I has a loop, l has an angled top and small foot, and 1 has a heavier slanted head. O is broadly curved while zero is more upright and polygonal.

Each row repeats “Il1 O0” at 16px, 24px and 48px on light and dark backgrounds.
The displayed comparison lets readers inspect the looped I, footed lowercase l, slanted head on 1, and the curved O versus polygonal zero at the labeled sizes. These are renderer examples, not a universal legibility threshold.

Crest Fraktur carries the display title while Acorn Birch sets the supporting copy. This concept keeps the display treatment in one short line.

Choose
Capital I has a looped upper form; lowercase l is narrower, with an angled top and small foot.
Numeral 1 has a heavier slanted head, visibly distinct from both letterforms in “Il1”.
Capital O has a broad curved contour; zero is a more upright polygonal outline in “O0”.
Good for
Interfaces or labels where editors can compare the exact I/l/1 and O/0 forms before choosing a display face.
Check before using
Small UI text that requires a demonstrated recognition threshold; this page supplies contour comparisons, not user testing.
About
Crest Fraktur's lowercase x reaches 74.6% of the capital height, close to the 74.6% median for decorative fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.3% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 21% of the cap height below the baseline. The o is close to a circle, 1.14 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.27 times the width of H. The O stops 0.7% of the cap height short of H and sits on the baseline.
The letters stand upright, leaning less than 2.5° either way.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 35.8% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 7.4% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 249 kerning pairs, the most of all 1 decorative fonts. The tightest of them is Ts, which closes up by 19.8% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Crest Fraktur will not line up exactly.

Method
The font files were checked for supported characters and visible letter shapes. AI helped describe the forms and prepare the sample compositions. The images use the named font files; samples are illustrative, and measurements come from the supplied files.
The current text and font-file specimens received an independent review.
For R, Abbey Textura reserves 0.730 em versus 0.898 em in Crest Fraktur. Its narrower advance can help when that capital repeats in a compact heading.
Acorn Birch gives g a 0.289 em advance; here it is 0.531 em. The alternative sets that character more tightly.
